Instrumentation Division

OVERVIEW

The Instrumentation Division, headed by Engr. Lanre Daniyan, is the Engineering / R&D section of Centre for Basic Space Science. It is charged with the responsibility of evolving appropriate technologies, firmware development, instrumentation development in the area of Space science and Technology. While the Division strives to support research with necessary instrumentation, it also supports critical sectors that drive the Nigerian economy with appropriate space technologies.

 

CBSS Prototyping Lab

The Division boasts of well – equipped state – of – the – art prototyping lab where prototyping, reverse – engineering and indigenous product development are constantly being carried out. In this Lab, instruments which are usually imported into the country are now being developed indigenously and shipped to end users across Nigeria.

 

R&D Products

The Instrumentation Division boasts of over twenty (20) R&D products listed in the CBSS R&D section with about two patent rights on our products and more patents rights being expected shortly.

The Division also offers engineering consultancy in the above stated areas.

·         Development of 10m Radio Astronomy Dish Antenna

·         Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) with science & military capabilities

·         Air Quality measuring instrument development

·         Radio telescope receiver system development

·         Humanoid development

·         Facial recognition biometrics

·         UV / Cosmic particle meter development

·         Ultrasonic wind sentry system

 

The Instrumentation Division is birthing technologies hitherto known to be exclusive reserve of the advanced world and sustaining this tempo under able and dynamic leadership of the Director / Chief Executive of the Centre, Dr B. I. Okere.
